Preventing School Violence (PRVNT)

Courses designed to equip educators with researched strategies and actionable steps to foster healthier school climates and safer environments

Overview

Preventing School Violence (PRVNT) was a bundle of different leveled courses to help and support educators, school resource officers (SROs), school administrators, and school mental health professionals. The bundle consisted of 25 courses, and I had the privilege of working on 7 of those courses. During this collaboration, I:

  • Partnered with subject matter experts (SMEs) to brainstorm engaging graphics and translate research into accessible learning materials
  • Designed interactive course elements that encouraged real-world application through periodical practice opportunities and advancement of rigor throughout the courses
  • Ensured content alignment with evidence-based practices and learner accessibility.

Challenges

Scheduling challenges with SMEs

The experts working on the project had competing responsibilities, limiting consistent availability.

Evolving guidelines and requirements

Grant requirements around language and topics continuously shifted during development.

High content volume

Extensive research and course materials needed to be condensed while remaining engaging for diverse learners across different roles and backgrounds.

Solutions

Solution: Coordinated workflows

Adapted timelines and leveraged asynchronous tools to maintain steady progress despite limited SME availability

Solution: Thorough review and quality assurance

Continuously reviewed course content to ensure compliance with evolving grant, verifying accuracy through an extended QA process.

Solution: Streamlined design

Condensed complex research into clear, focused modules and applied varied instructional strategies and activities to keep learners engaged and content accessible.
